It is with great sadness that the time has come to permanently close the doors of Woodlands Leisure.

This has been a difficult decision to make and one I have not taken lightly.

The facility opened in September 1992 and over the years has brought a great deal of happiness and joy to the lives of the local community, those visiting the area and the staff that have worked there. We have witnessed thousands of children and adults learn to swim, improved the health and wellbeing of so many people and it has been a very sociable venue for people to meet lifelong long friends and partners.

We have also had many staff working here over the years, some of whom have been here from the start, 29 years ago. Their loyalty, enthusiasm and commitment to the centre has made it a valuable and well-respected amenity in the local community.

The past few years though, have seen a struggle to constantly maintain this 30-year-old building and the combination of increased overheads, the need for major repairs to the building and the effects of 18 months of the Covid pandemic, means that I have had to make the difficult decision to close the business. It simply isn’t viable to continue trading.

I will deal promptly with refunding unused portions of membership that has been suspended while we have been closed.  If you pay your membership by monthly direct debit you don’t need to do anything – we will be processing any refund due very soon.   If you have an annual or one-month membership please contact our office via email with your refund request and we will deal with this promptly.

I would like to thank you for your custom and support and wish you well for the future.

William Wright.
